3 Sports Injury Mistakes That Everyone Need To Avoid

So you’ve been unlucky enough to suffer an injury playing your sport or hobby. We know first hand the distress, frustration and anger this can cause. You miss out on all the good stuff: playing sport with your friends, getting out or breath, building strength and indulging in some healthy competition!

So that you don’t miss out any more time than you need to, make sure to avoid these 3 common mistakes that people make when trying to manage a sports injury!

  1. Resting For Too Long - mistake number one we often see is resting for too long, and jumping straight back in to sport, expecting for everything to be ok. Sure, rest is an important part of the management, but doing this for too long, expecting it to “heal” your injury is a recipe for re-injury!

  2. Only Doing Stretches For Rehab - everyones go to for helping a sports injury seems to be doing a few stretches and cracking on with the rest of their day. You simply can’t stretch your way to a fully healed, strong and resilient previously injured body part. Rehab has to include, mobility, flexibility, co-ordination, strength and plyometric exercise to have you firing on all cylinders again.

  3. Not Getting Assessed - everyone wants to get back to their hobby or sport quickly. Save yourself the time of guesswork and have your injury assessed by a Physiotherapist. This will mean you can get started on treating your injury as fast as possible and get back to your hobby or sport much quicker than trying to figure it out on your own!
