Are You Doing Enough To Get Out Of Pain?

One of the most common misconceptions is that time will fix everything when it comes to pain management. “I thought if I left it, the pain would just get better”, “I rested for 6 weeks the last time this happened, and it got better on it’s own”, we have heard them all. However, what happens when giving it time doesn’t work? What do you do then?

More often than not, when you’re experiencing long term pain, there are multiple things that can contribute to our nervous systems feeling threatened and feeling the need to protect us. Poor sleep? Stressful job? Stressful home life? Kids? Alcohol? Poor nutrition? Poor hydration? Previous injury history? Age? The list goes on…

If giving it time hasn’t helped, then we need to look at the list above and ask, what more can I do here to help get myself out of pain? What NEEDS to change NOW for you to take control of your own journey out of pain? This can often be confronting but it often helps to focus on the things that we can control. We can’t change our previous injury history, or age, but we can control how we manage stress, how much water we drink, the quality of the food we eat, and our sleep. You will be amazed at the effect this can have on how much pain you experience and how quickly your symptoms can start to reduce with some small lifestyle changes.
