Here is Angie’s Health and Fitness story…

“I am very passionate about mental health and well-being - I absolutely love working in the field of mental health and feel very privileged to be able to support clients to improve their mental health and well-being. I have a particular interest in early intervention and feel passionate about tackling the stigma surrounding mental health.

Physical health and mental health are closely interconnected, yet we often find it more difficult to speak about our mental health. My hope is for everyone to feel able to speak openly about their mental health to enable them to get the right help at the earliest opportunity to prevent long term mental health difficulties.

I am currently working as an academic teaching both undergraduate Mental Health Nursing students and postgraduate trainee therapists on the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Diploma course. I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2014. I worked within the NHS for 7 years and specialised in the field of child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS). Within this role I have experience working with a wide range of mental health and neurological conditions.  I also had the opportunity to develop a full-time mental health and well-being service within a secondary school.  This enabled me to provide a truly unique early intervention service to meet the needs of young people within the school and break down barriers to accessing mental health support. In the last couple of years, I transitioned into academia and feel very privileged to be teaching the future generations of nurses and CBT therapists.”
